False Data: The Silent Killer of Matrimonial Compatibility

False Data: The Silent Killer of Matrimonial Compatibility

If you think arranged marriages have a back seat in India, then you might be wrong. 60 million people look for life partners at any given time.

In 2022, Bharat Matrimony saw a whopping jump by 280 million new users.

The 1996-started Shaadi.com adds 1.5 million users every month with about 12,000-15,000 sign-ups per day.

Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and CEO of Matrimony.com said that the site receives 14,000 - 15,000 registrations per day, which increased by 30% post covid.

These aren’t just gigantic numbers, they are actual people looking for a life partner.

But how successful are they? Is there guaranteed authenticity about each of these profiles?

Let’s answer with some recent cases.

In January 2022, a 34-year-old man from Mumbai lured 40 rich women. The accused claimed to have a B Tech and an MBA degree on his profile.

Thane police arrested a man using different names like Aditya, Navhush, Tanmay, etc to dupe 14 women by posing as a senior scientist at ISRO. He was married and had a son.

A wife called it quits after discovering the fake income her husband asserted on the matrimony site five years ago.

In the above cases the accused impersonated their identity, education, income or employment status. Officials come across such cases very frequently. Section 66-D of the IT Act provides for punishment by impersonation using a computer source. But with the scams being reported each day, the accused do not seem to be threatened by the law.

Why do people provide false data? Some people have a clear motive, money. However, many Indian men tend to share an exaggerated income amount to attract better prospects.

While investigating a similar case, Inspector Gawali said, "It won't stop unless matrimonial sites put in more checks in place."

Manpower is not enough Some matrimony sites check and authenticate the data, but mostly through human hands and brain. With the mountain of data that comes in, the manpower can never be enough. And human subjectivity leading to different opinions, also topples down the truth.

To nip it in the bud, the first step of onboarding ought to be authenticated.

A sophisticated algorithm and an artificially intelligent API like Tartan are built to do the same. Tartan’s leading API revolutionizes matrimony matchmaking by verifying income, employment, and identity in real-time to validate rightful profiles.

While registering, two very crucial sections are to be filled, Income and employment. These determine the actual profile and the possibility of a match.

To authenticate, users can either Sync or Visualise and upload the relevant documents. Tartan’s API verifies data in just a few seconds enabling only the authorized profiles to move further.

Post verification, the profile receives a Tartan badge. It indicates that all essential information is 100% accurate. Trusted profiles can then match with other trusted profiles to increase user confidence in partner search.
