Tartan’s Product Update — October 2022
This update introduces a major enhancement focused on business flexibility, access control, and multi-client operations—making it easier for organizations to integrate, manage, and extend Tartan APIs across multiple products or customers.
As teams scale and serve multiple internal stakeholders or external clients, controlling access and data visibility becomes critical. This release is designed to support exactly that.
Business Delight
Seamlessly integrate Tartan APIs across multiple products or clients
We’ve introduced role-based access control (RBAC) with flexible roles and permissions, enabling organizations to manage users, data access, and workflows with greater precision.
Workflow: Access control with roles and permissions
Organizations can now:
Assign roles and permissions to multiple users within the same organization
Segregate data access cleanly based on assigned roles
Control who can view, manage, or operate specific workflows
This ensures that each user only sees what they are authorized to access—improving security and operational clarity.
Built for admins and multi-client use cases
Default and custom roles
Admins can create predefined or custom roles based on their business needs.Support for reselling workflows
Teams that resell Tartan APIs or dashboards can define roles for their own customers, enabling controlled, tenant-level access.Full visibility for dashboard admins
Admin users retain a complete view of platform activity, with priority support for faster issue resolution.Unlimited controlled access
Add as many users as needed while maintaining strict access boundaries.
Why this matters
These enhancements enable organizations to:
Scale internal teams without compromising data security
Operate multiple products or client accounts from a single platform
Offer Tartan APIs as part of their own solutions
Maintain clean governance across users, roles, and customers
With this update, businesses can not only integrate Tartan APIs seamlessly—but also extend and resell them confidently, backed by robust access control and enterprise-grade permissions.

Tartan Wiki
All questions regarding Tartan APIs are now in one place.
Tartan Wiki has extensive FAQs and product overview right in the dashboard.
We attempted to solve this with an engineering-first approach. With this feature, we are already seeing a massive reduction in the back-and-forth queries with our customers.

Improved Analytics Function for better Customer Support
The analytics team has worked on to add some client system-related events along with notifications. This significantly helps us with better customer support and reconciliation with SLAs concerning client systems.
We can now get a complete picture of the user journeys and the integration of Tartan APIs with client systems.
This information is beneficial to our customers, even at the POC stages, to improvise the integration and user journeys.

Improvised UX
Our improved UX for the end-user of Tartan APIs results from having a solid analytics function in place with user experience studies.
With this design improvement, we are already witnessing over 18% improvement in end-users completing journeys.
With thorough research and understanding of our data, we figured a drop-off of our end users for various reasons, the primary reason being that around 20% of the end users forget their payroll credentials.
“Forgot the Password flow” has been integrated for three major payrolls, resulting in an 18% conversion metric.
Happy end-users = Happy customers

Payslip OCR Engine
One of our important customer had a query regarding using payslip OCR APIs. While extracting data from old payslips in bulk through OCR, they wanted to improvise on the prediction model of several data points.
More information on this will be elaborated as part of the case study in next month’s update. Stay tuned!
