Tartan’s Product Update — March 2023
Hello there,
Welcome back to our March 2023 product update. This month, we’re excited to introduce an enhancement that significantly simplifies one of the most critical—and often most complex—parts of customer onboarding: PAN-based identity verification.
With the launch of Tartan’s new PAN API, businesses can now streamline Aadhaar, date of birth, and address verification into a single, efficient step.
Tartan’s PAN API
Streamlining Aadhaar, DOB, and address verification in one flow
For many Indian businesses, customer onboarding has traditionally involved multiple verification steps—collecting Aadhaar details, validating date of birth, confirming address information, and reconciling mismatches across documents.
These steps were not only time-consuming but also operationally heavy. Verification often stretched from days to weeks, leading to delays, increased drop-offs, and lost customer interest during the onboarding phase.
What’s changed with the new PAN API?
Tartan’s PAN API removes this friction by consolidating multiple verification checks into a single API call.
Using a PAN number as the input, businesses can now instantly fetch:
Linked Aadhaar details
Verified user name
Address information associated with PAN / ITR records
This eliminates the need for separate workflows and reduces both manual effort and turnaround time.
Built for accuracy through PII triangulation
Beyond data retrieval, the PAN API helps businesses triangulate Personal Identifiable Information (PII) across multiple trusted sources.
By cross-verifying name, address, Aadhaar, and PAN-linked data, the API:
Improves data accuracy
Reduces inconsistencies and mismatches
Strengthens identity confidence
This ensures businesses operate on reliable, validated customer information from the very start of the journey.
Faster onboarding, better customer experience
With auto-population of verified data points, businesses can:
Shorten onboarding flows
Reduce user input and friction
Minimize verification-related drop-offs
Improve overall conversion rates
Teams can shift their focus from managing verification delays to delivering smoother, more engaging customer experiences.
Why it matters
Single-step verification for multiple identity attributes
Reduced onboarding timelines
Lower operational overhead
More secure and compliant identity checks
Higher customer retention during onboarding
With Tartan’s PAN API, customer onboarding becomes faster, cleaner, and more reliable—without compromising security or compliance.

Feature improvements
Email verification with OTP
Tartan’s Email Verification with OTP service is a plug-and-play feature that helps businesses verify their user’s current employment.
Earlier, businesses had difficulty verifying the authenticity of user email addresses, leading to inaccurate data and inefficient customer service. The service sends a One-Time Password (OTP) to the user’s email address, which they validate before proceeding. The simple process saves significant time on verification, and the plug-and-play integration ensures businesses don’t have to invest in additional resources or coding.
This service enhances the verification process and streamlines operations, leading to efficient, reliable and accurate customer service.

Testing vs Product Environment - For better decision making
Tartan’s new dashboard feature that allows customers to easily switch between Testing and Production Environments.
This feature allows you to keep exploring and testing other Tartan APIs even when live on production with one of our products, enabling you to find and utilize new features without disrupting your workflow.
With the ease of toggling between the two environments, you can test and deploy with confidence, knowing that your data is protected and your development process is streamlined.
We hope this improvement will enhance your experiences and help you make the most of our APIs.
